All activities at the Out of School Club allow the children to develop whilst playing and having fun. There are seven areas of learning and development which are set out by the Department of Education through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Whilst the EYFS covers children up to the term after their fifth birthday we believe that the principles are as relevant for all ages of children in our care. The seven areas of learning are:

1. Communication and language
2. Physical development
3. Personal, social and emotional development
4. Literacy
5. Mathematics
6. Understanding the World
7. Expressive arts and design

We treat all children as individuals and involve them in the planning of activities and themes.  There are a range of activities on a daily basis, free play is a key theme throughout the Club and children will always be encouraged to choose their own activities.

Play is very important to children and it provides them with many learning opportunities and helps to develop essential skills that they will need as they grow older.

Key Person System:

We have a Key person system, and your child will be assigned a key person when they first come to the Out of School Club. This key person will get to know both you and your child and will be the first point of contact for any queries you may have.  They will also keep a record and mementoes of the time your child has spent with us.

For children attending the Breakfast Club and/or the After School Club we operate a communication diary system between parents/carers, the school, and ourselves allowing messages to be passed effectively between the three parties.

We have five regular members of staff working at the Out of School Club, in addition to this we have four members of supply staff. Six of our members of staff hold recognised childcare qualifications and all are continually updating their training. Staff are First Aid qualified and attend regular Safeguarding Children Training.
